Step 4: Once you click on Confer, the USER / PHONE / LOCAL IVR tabs will populate under the phone panel.  Click on PHONE. Here you will be able to type in the external phone number that you're attempting to connect the customer to. Once you type in the phone number, click on the green phone button to the right of it and you will immediately dial out to be connected to the phone number you dialed.

Step 5: Once the external person answers, the customer will continue to be on hold.  Please use this time to discuss the customer's concern with the external person or explain the customer's situation in case the customer will be transferred to this person.  Once you are ready to proceed, you may either hang up with the external party by clicking End Conference or take the customer off hold by clicking UNHOLD (Same as hold button).  If the external party remains, then this will be a 3way conference call.

Step 6: Once you're in a conference call, click on the arrow next to the external party that you connected the call to in order to give ownership of the call to this person.

Once you give ownership of the call to the external person attending the customer, you will no longer be able to place this customer on hold.
